Our Mission
Purpose
Matthew 22:34-40(ESV)
But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
We believe that the Bible reveals and history confirms that God’s highest priority is making His greatness known. Therefore His glory and greatness is the foundation upon which all we believe rests and the source from which all we do flows.
For His glory, we are becoming an authentic community… Life is not meant to be lived alone. Our culture promotes individualism and selfishness whereas Jesus Christ championed community and selflessness for the sake of others.
At FBCK, we desire to be a church centered in real-life community; where others are fighting for you on the front lines in the midst of everyday life; where people are being loved, cared for, and challenged; where the truth is not just spoken but lived out; where authentic relationships matter more than programs.
We desire to be a community where people are equipped to mature in the faith and to give their lives away. This two-fold mission of maturing and giving your life away is interdependent. People only mature in their faith as they are equipped and given opportunities to give their lives away. And people only give their lives away in service to others as they take steps to mature in their faith.
Together, maturing and serving, we discover the LIFE we were made for. Finding life as we give it away? Sounds like a paradox!
Such is the genuine life, the purposeful life, the meaningful life that God wants us to experience. Jesus said, unless something dies it cannot live, the least is the greatest, the leader is the servant, and the one who loses his life is the one who finds it! Maturing in the faith, and giving your life away in service to others, is about finding life as God intended, and giving life to a world that desperately needs it.
